Gov. Contracts

USAspending.gov publishes federal spending as open data. The official USAspending API (v2) is the supported way to query awards including contracts and IDVs alongside grants, loans, and other award types. You do not need an API key for typical use; check current terms on their site.

Searching contracts & awards Use POST endpoints such as /api/v2/search/spending_by_award/ to return filtered award rows (filter by award type, agency, recipient, time period, NAICS/PSC, etc.). /api/v2/search/spending_by_transaction/ supports transaction-level search. Award type codes are described under /api/v2/references/award_types/.

Single award detail GET /api/v2/awards/{generated_unique_award_id}/ returns details for a specific award when you know its identifier from search results or the site.

Bulk / extracts Contract-oriented downloads include endpoints like /api/v2/download/contract/ (zipped contract files) and general award/transaction bulk helpers under /api/v2/download/ and /api/v2/bulk_download/, asynchronous jobs with status polling.

Data below is loaded from the official USAspending API (federal prime contracts, types A–D). For the interactive explorer, see USAspending.gov.

Prime contracts: future performance start, obligations over 50M

Rows show prime award ID, recipient, obligations and outlays, description, awarding agency, and period of performance start. Filters: obligation at least 50,000,000; performance start (or award start date when POP is blank) is after today (UTC). Results refresh on the server about every 15 minutes.
